PenFinancial Credit Union Establishes Niagara College Bursary for Students From the School of Community Services.

PenFinancial Credit Union presented the Niagara College Foundation with a $10,000 donation, during the first Placement Appreciation Event, hosted by the School of Community Services on February 9, 2010.

The donation will establish a bursary to benefit a first-year Niagara College student with financial need in programs including Child and Youth Worker, Community and Justice Services, Educational Assistant – Special Needs Support, Early Childhood Education, Health and Fitness Promotion, Recreation and Leisure Services, and Social Service Worker. The gift will be matched by the Ontario Trust for Student Support to establish an endowed fund, which will provide an annual $500 bursary.

“PenFinancial Credit Union is very proud to support the Niagara College Foundation by investing in a bursary to be awarded annually to a student entering a Community Services program at Niagara College,” said Bob Watson, Chief Executive Officer at PenFinancial. “As a Niagara based financial institution, we place a high value on the efforts of our community and social services sector, as they help to make Niagara a safe, healthy and vibrant place to live and work.”

“PenFinancial’s generous support will create an educational opportunity for a student who might otherwise be unable to pursue his or her academic and career goals,” said Sean Kennedy, Niagara College Vice President, Student and External Relations and CEO of the Niagara College Foundation.
